It happens – sadly to EVERYONE
and when you get to that age when it actually starts to noticeably happen, well you start to panic (naturally) which usually results in multiple google search’s on what you can do to stop it or help with the current situation.
The way I was raised, the natural way was the right way – you don’t put chemicals IN your body and you don’t put chemicals ON your body. Your face especially. Even though I NOW live in a world where people talk about plastic surgery as casually as they discuss where they got brunch, I am hesitant to try any procedure that could have negative effects regardless how minimal the risk is.
SO rewind a few weeks ago, my fabulous friend (who is famously up to date with ALL the newest fads & trending health tricks) called me raving about her latest obsession. A new lemonade you drink daily that has collagen in it. She literally bought a subscription through a text message and she claimed the results spoke for themselves.
IMMEDIATELY I knew this was something I needed to try (YES, I want to drink my way to beautiful) but as I begun my research – because I NEED know everything about everything before I try something – I saw a lot of health food stores selling collagen without the commitment and price of a weekly subscription of the newest instagramable drink (it is SUPER pretty).
SO why couldn’t I make my own from home?
I can and I will, and that’s exactly what I did. (Im stubborn)
I’m NOT a lemon girl, so lemonade is not exactly my drink of choice so my base was green tea. Every day following my daily coffee, I made myself an iced green tea with honey, and added my collagen (in powder forms). It tasted great, so it wasn’t hard to make this part of my morning routine.
*side note* A-LOT of people recommended just stirring some collagen in your coffee which is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of free time in the mornings.
After doing this for about three weeks, I started to notice my skin changing (not in the UGH I’m old kind of way I have noticed, but in a OMG why is my makeup going on flawlessly kind of way). Last week when I told my friends about what I had done (obviously it came up after discussing negative results from an anti-aging eye procedure done to a girlfriend of mine) they both agreed they had noticed a difference too (OH GOOD – Justification)!
The results I noticed were:
- The lines under my eyes + bags under my eyes significantly decreased
This was my main goal when I started this, the wrinkles under my eyes significantly decreased and in some cases vanished.
- My skin’s elasticity (which isn’t a word I thought I would ever use to describe my skin but here we are) was the best it’s ever been AKA my skin felt firmer and less wrinkly.
- I have VERY dry skin, and my skin was retaining moisture like crazy and felt very soft (a benefit I’m happy with but was completely unexpected!!)
And that was the goal, so I am a happy customer over here (THANKS GNC!)
While learning more about collagen I also found it has A LOT of benefits that aren’t noticeable (but are extremely beneficial ) such as improves digestion, hormone balances and bone and joint health.
An anti aging experiment for less than 20 bucks? I don’t see how you could afford NOT to drink yourself beautiful.
