While I am slowly coming terms with the fact I do have to turn 30 this year that also means coming to terms with the changes that come with age. For the most part, I am super excited for my thirties but there are a few things we all inevitably have to face with age. Like your skin changing.
While learning more information about aging and your skin, I also discovered that there is no such thing as reversing the aging process. You can only prevent it.
Finding out this information was followed by many hours of panic research on getting BOTOX. I decided to hold off on the BOTOX (For now that is). I decided to do some research on natural skin care. When I was 12 I had my first spa day with my mom at this all-natural vegan spa in Toronto and I met this 65-year-old woman, and she had the most amazing skin I had ever seen.

I asked her what her secret was and she gave me these tips:
- Avoid chemicals on your face
- Wear sunscreen EVERYDAY
- Remove makeup with coconut oil
- Wash your face at night with a warm washcloth
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
- 10-20 minutes in the sun daily is good for acne
I forgot about this woman and her advice until the day of panic and BOTOX deliberations. I decided if natural is the way to go there has to be some recipes out there. After four months of experimenting, creating new all natural skin masks, convincing my man and whoever else will try to experiment with me, I narrowed down the most effective natural treatments I could find.
Disclaimer: I DO NOT have any where near perfect skin, and I am not a dermatologist. I had zero reactions and zeros issues, but if you have sensitive skin at all maybe try a patch on your skin first.

For a skin refresher or a literal GLOW up –

• 1 teaspoon of chia seeds

Mix honey and lukewarm water. Add chia seeds, stirring constantly.
Let the mixture sit for five minutes so that the seeds can swell.
After five minutes, stir the ingredients well once again.
Apply a part of the mixture, approximately one teaspoon, on your palms and massage them onto your face, which you have previously cleansed.
With so many products out there already- why would you take the time and effort to create, apply and repeat homemade skin care products?
There are many reasons, but to give you the cliff notes version (because let’s face it as much as we try not to we will always end up putting some sort of store bought products on our skin). It is well known a fact that the average woman puts around 200 chemicals on her body every day and 60% of what we put on our bodies is absorbed into our bodies.
The beauty industry is very badly regulated, and companies have the freedom to use many harmful ingredients without government approval. Knowing this information and how many products that are used and popular in the USA are banned in so many other countries I became very conscious of what I was putting on my body.
I hope this helps you as much as it did me!
Happy Aging (I’m kidding – kind of….)
