Much like the women in this city, Miami is young and hot!
Being a little over 100 years old and the only US city founded by a woman, Miami is a young city with unique history living up to its nickname of ‘The Magic City’.
When someone imagines Miami, they are suddenly pulled into the Will Smith 90’s music video of a hot beach, hot women, and a nonstop party. But Miami has grown into so much more than that.

Why Miami?
Miami has always been one of the most popular vacation spots in the US, and with good reason. Everything is beautiful! the views, the people, the beach…even the food (Instagram worthy)! Some of the best clubs and parties in the world here, and between the diverse population and Art Deco styled architecture you are constantly surrounded by culture and art. It really is the type of place where you don’t notice how much is going on around you until you stop and pay attention (the reason most Miamians are constantly bored when not in Miami). But did you know Miami is so much more than just a beautiful party place? This city has something to offer everyone and is a city rich with history. Here is a quick collection of interesting facts about Miami you might know:
- Miami is the first and only major US city founded by a woman- Julia Tuttle aka Mother Miami
- Miami has a Hispanic population of about 64%, making it the ‘Capital of Latin America’
- Miami has the biggest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world (800+ buildings)
- Miami is a man made island – it literally used to be a swamp
- Miami invented suntan lotion – in 1944, it’s only fitting suntan lotion was invented in the Sunshine State
- Miami is home to the largest snow skiing club in the world – seriously!
- Miami invented the ATM for rollerbladers in 1996
- Miami has won many awards, including cleanest city in the US and best beach in the US
- Miami has the largest cruise ship port in the world, and is also the diving capital of the world…apparently pirates used to love coming here back in the day and hide their treasures!

What is #TaggedInMiami?
A local Lifestyle blog for all things Miami, Pink Coral and general advice.
How did you end up living in Miami?
Moving to Miami was a spur of the moment decision, and I couldn’t be happier that this is where I ended up! I was at a crossroad in my life, graduating for the second time and trying to decide my next life move. Being the free spirit I am, I jumped at an opportunity to move across North American on a whim. I sold my car. I sold most of my belongings (and gave away all my winter clothing so there was no going back). I worked two jobs; and within six months, I was officially a Miami-an (and six years later I couldn’t be happier)!
What is your favorite part about the Miami life?
I love that Miami is constantly changing and that there is always something new going on (and no, I’m not referring to the 24/7 party going on which is a real thing). Miami is so diverse and multicultural, it’s hard to not find something new and exciting to do. Whether it’s a new restaurant opening (which trust me, there ALWAYS IS); or a random festival; or just walking around the beach, there is always something new and exciting going on.
What is a lifestyle blog?
Finding an actual definition for a ‘lifestyle blog’ has proven difficult. After a bunch of research, I have come to the conclusion that a lifestyle blog (in my own opinion, anyway) is writing more about life experience than talking about products or writing about personal stories. The goal of this lifestyle blog is to address and discuss the Miami lifestyle, be it the know from everything to where to have coffee to what to wear to the beach.
Why did you decide to blog?
I have always been a writer, just never been brave enough to show the world my work (well, with my name underneath anyway). You see, I had a very successful blog in high school. I wrote once a week about everyday things teenagers have to go through (aren’t we all super-stressed at that age?). I lost touch with it, and when I went back to it my first year of college I realized how much of a following I had and I read all the positive feedback I had received (and negative too, but luckily for me there wasn’t much). I didn’t want myself or anyone else to feel like they were going through these things alone. After seeing that I had made a difference in many strangers’ lives, I promised myself I would one day pick up where I dropped off; but under my own name, not anonymously.
What do you do when you are not writing?
When I am not writing my blog, I am busy running my online boutique. Pink Coral is a Miami based women’s apparel company with one goal, bring the endless vacation to you. Let us help perfect your getaway look, or bring a little slice of the beach with you wherever you are & wherever you go. Check it out here (www.pinkcoralmia.com)
When I have extra time I am looking for new places to eat in Miami (or cooking something up myself), or I’m at the beach. Both of which are part of my inspiration for this blog.
Or I am watching hockey and cheering on my favorite sports team, the Ottawa Senators!
Who takes your photos?
The photos on my blog is a collaborative effort between myself and a few local amazing photographers. The camera I use is a CANNON 7D EOS, and of course, my iPhone 7+! I started attending the free workshops Apple offers to teach how to use the iPhone to take professional photos (and also teaches videography and editing tips!). I highly recommend everyone who doesn’t have access to a professional-grade camera to try those classes at Apple.
